State Joint-Stock Foreign Trade Company “O’zmarkazimpeks” was established in 1998.
SJSFTC “O’zmarkazimpeks” is an open joint-stock company, which independently carries out its business activity on self-financing basis. The allocation of the company’s authorized fund is the following: 51 % - the state, 30 %- legal persons, 19 % - natural persons.
The company’s major activities are:
- export of Uzbek cotton fibre;
- export of cotton fibre processing products and other export-oriented products produced by enterprises of the republic;
- export of soft grain and flour;
- import of products for the purpose of satisfaction of domestic customers’ needs;
- investment activity with the purpose of promotion of the republic’s export resources, as well as using of new instruments for cooperation on the basis of tolling, leasing and consignment contracts;
- rendering of marketing and information services to enterprises of small-scale and private business, elaboration of effective schemes of export transactions’ financing.
The company is one of the largest exporters of Uzbek cotton fibre. The turnover of the company is about 250 000 tons of cotton fibre annually. The company has settled relationships with all producers of cotton fibre on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan and well-established partnership with the Buyers. The membership of SJSFTC “O’zmarkazimpeks” in the International Cotton Association also promotes strengthening of the company’s authority in the world market.
In order to provide more effectively with specific kinds of services connected with accepting, storing and forwarding of cotton products to export, the company has established specialized cotton terminals in Kashkadarya, Samarkand, Navoi and Djizak regions with the total volume of one-time storage of 91.000 tons of cotton fibre.
Samarkand region:
- Joint Venture “Samarkand tola”. The volume of one-time storage is 15.000 tons.
- Limited Society “Ulugbek tola”. The volume of one-time storage is 12.000 tons. It is planning to establish the centre for maintenance of forklift trucks.
Kashkadarya region:
- Public Corporation “Nishon tolasi”. The volume of one-time storage is 12.000 tons. A “free bonded warehouse” for 4.000 tons is operating at the terminal.
- Daughter enterprise “Kamashi tola”. The volume of one-time storage is 12.000 tons.
- Daughter enterprise “Karshi tola”. The volume of one-time storage is 22.000 tons. It is planning to organize “free bonded warehouse” with the volume of one-time storage up to 6.000 tons.
Navoi region:
- Limited Society “Navoi tola”. The volume of one-time storage is 7.500 tons.
Djizak region:
- Limited Society “Pakhtakor tola”. The volume of one-time storage is 10.500 tons. With the purpose of expansion of range of services there was bought a press for bales overpress.
Along with the main business activity on management of cotton fibre export, the company is giving much attention to export of cotton fibre processing products and other export-oriented products produced by enterprises of the republic. Thus, in order to render practical assistance to textile enterprises as well as to attract foreign investments to the republic, the company is promoting export of products of such enterprises of the republic as JV “Besteks”, JV “Beruniteks”, JV “Olloteks”, JV “Tashkaya tekstil” and the others.
Moreover, in order to develop export potential of the republic, increase cultivation areas, expand current infrastructure and implement modernized lines with application of new technologies on processing of different agricultural products, the company has established enterprises, specialized in growing and processing of fruits and vegetables, as well as in development of dry lands.
Investments in real economic sector, i.e. production, are the basis for strategic existence of the company. At present, investments of the company represent share holdings, shares in capitals, and loans in different sectors of the national economy. Today, the company is being a stockholder of the largest enterprises of the republic, such as SJSC “TAPOiCH”, public corporation “Uzpahtamash” and the others, as well as stockholder of foreign trade companies JSC “Halkaro Hamkorlik Markazi”, SJSFTC “Uzprommashimpeks”, SJSFTC “Uzinterimpex” and SJSFTC “Markazsanoatexport”. In the future the company is planning to concentrate its actions step-by-step around the production activity.
In order to organize the abovementioned productions it is planning to work out the complex of measures on attraction both foreign investors and bankroll (credits, grants) of international finance institutions.
